There aren’t many photos of me that I like and this one is one of the very few. We went to a Teaching and Learning Conference to Manchester and it coincided with the Chinese New Year. All the trees in the main square were covered in red lanterns and it looked so pretty and colourful. I loved it.
For this page, I used the ‘B-sides’ of the September Hop Kit Club papers as they worked with the greys and browns of the trees. On the background (which is also a paper from the kit covered with a layer of gel medium to make it waterproof), I used Finnabair Dots And Lines stencil and gesso mixed with Ayeeda magic powder and red gouache. Once the texture dots dried, I used Ayeeda chalk white and matte coral mists to add a layer of colour over the dark blue background. To the paper cluster, I added a white doily to break the dark page. As embellishments, I used paper pompoms from IKEA and metal trees from Scrapberry’s.
Thanks for visiting.
