Birthday card | 13arts

It’s one of my penpals’ birthday this month. I decided to get crafty and make her a card instead of buying one.
She is a very creative girl who is into Project Life, Midori, planners and all the other pretty things so the card had to be special.

Here is how I made it:

I cut 10x9cm card from 13arts paper. I mixed modelling paste with 13arts paints: Metallic Purple, Metallic Turquoise and Old Gold. I randomly spread the coloured paste on the card using a pallete knife, creating layers of colour and texture.

While the modelling paste was drying, I cut a honeycomb chipboard from and painted it using matching the background mica powders mixed with water. That made the chipboard nice and sparkly.

Once dry, I attached the chipboard to the card.

On top, I assembled various embellishments: chipboard fans, flowers from 13arts and metal bottle tops from Scrapberry’s. I added purple and gold mica ‘paint’ on the flower leaves, distressed the whole layout with white gesso and, finally, sprinkled with white, black and purple mists.

The card is mounted on a slightly bigger white backing paper.
