Today, I made a birthday card for one of my penpals. She will be celebrating her 30th at the beginning of December and, since it’s a special birthday, I decided to make a special card for her rather than buy one.

I used supplies from 13arts; starting from gesso and gel medium, through mists, mica flakes and inks, and finishing with a doily, chipboard word  and a fabric flower.

To create the background, I created layers of colour using the mists and sprinkled black and white inks on top. I attached the doily using gel medium and sprinkled mica flakes over it to add texture and create a base for the chipboard word. On top, I sprayed clear shimmer mist which allowed the base colours to run again and stain the doily creating additional layer of colour. While that was drying, I painted the chipboard with black ink. After attaching the gray fabric flower, pink flower buds and the word to the card, I sprinkled it once again with the white and black inks.
