For today’s page, I decided to upcycle a 12×12 card that I used over a month ago as a desk cover when working on a card for a friend ( you can read about it here birthday card ). It was covered in pink and black ink splatters but I liked the original background too much to throw it in the bin.
I have decided that I want to start working with black and white photos to have more freedom when it comes to the colours I use on the page. As a follow-up to that decision, I printed off quite a few vintage photos so this was a perfect opportunity to use one of them and see if the idea works in practice.
On the page, I stamped some writing using black Archival Ink, added texture paste dots using Finnabair stencil and covered the while centre of the page with layers of Pastel Dirty Pink, Chalk Dirty Pink and White mist from 13arts – I kept adding the colours as necessary to create layers and textures. Once the background was almost dry, I added a piece of a white lacy tablecloth which soaked up all the remaining moisture and colour. I assembled dyed gift tags and scraps of paper to make a base for the photo which I attached on top. I decorated one side of the photo with handmade flowers from 13arts and, on the other side, I added some coloured grit to create more depth and texture. As final touches, I used dry brush and added small strokes of white gesso all over the page to add light and vintage feel.
Thank you for visiting.
