Feel | Countdown To Christmas challenge

Well…it has finally happened…

Terhi Koskinen and Riikka Kovasin, who are my biggest scrapbooking inspirations, have a series of Countdown to Christmas Giveaways on their blogs and the last part of the event is a Do What You Love mood board/sketch scrapping challenge. Without a second thought, I knew I was going to give it a good go…

I decided to use a photo of a lady on a motorbike and word FEEL as the theme. I think it fits perfectly within the Do What You Love theme – we don’t always have to do what is expected of us or considered appropriate; as long as what we do makes us happy and makes us feel great…why not?!

On card from 7Dots Studio as a background, I used texture paste mixed with gouache paint and pink grit (amazing effect when dry!!!), amber and dirty pink mists, and white embossing powder with Finnabair handwriting stamp – that created layers of textures and colours on which I could start assembling the photo and embellishments. I used scraps of craft paper and plated a mat to use a frame for the photo; I distressed it with habit of white gesso and the same mists I used for the background. Under the frame, I placed, assembled in a circle, floral bristle to work with the pencil circles I drew on the base. A couple of twigs and flowers on side of the frame where the button is in the sketch. In the ‘text’ corner, I placed more floral bristle, dyed lace and chipboard word – FEEL – as well as some flower embellishments to coordinate with the main photo.  To finish, I sprinkled the whole page with white, pink and woodbine glitter inks.

Here is the main photo…

…and the word.

More close-ups…

…and the whole page.
