Valentine’s Day layout |The Studio Challenges

I wanted to share with you my first page as a member of The Studio Challenges design team member. It is such a privilege to have been chosen to join this team of very talented ladies so I wanted to make sure that my first contribution would confirm it was the right choice.

The layout is based is on the below sketch + use of a heart, since it’s a Valentine’s Day page. You can find all the details here.

I used a 12×12 teal card from 7Dots and painted it with irregular strokes of white gesso to create first layer of texture and break the dark background colour. I used Tim Holtz doily stencil with black and then white gesso randomly all over the page. Once that dried, I used various blue, teal and white mists and inks and sprinkled them all over. While the colour was drying, I made the paper cluster using scraps of crafting card. I used my typewriter to type random lettering on some of the papers; mainly to get away with not using a title as I didn’t think it would work well with the page. As embellishments I used two chipboard hears which I painted white with acrylic ink, and a bunch of prima flowers in colours complimenting the papers used in the cluster.

Here are some close-ups of the page.

Here’s the whole page.
