I am a huge Depeche Mode fan… Yes, I know… most of you have probably no idea what or who I am talking about… well… DM is a band that started in the 80s and is still recording… Their most popular album was called Violator and one of the songs from that album has inspired me to make this piece.
I had some leftover corrugated paper and plenty of random colourful alphas… there was no way I was ever going to use them so instead of making my bin their new home, I used them to show my interpretation of one of my favourite songs…
Thanks for stopping by!
Just a small project I have made for the Scrapbooking.gr.
It is sometimes so hard for me to use the stickers that come with the paper collections. Maybe because I am so used to working with more dimensional elements…
I also enjoyed the fact that the chevron paper became slightly warped after misting and using a heat gun on it and created additional texture – layering the stickers in between as quite fun.
You can see the tutorial here:
Being on a few DTs gives you an opportunity to work with a vast array of artists which is a never-ending supply of inspiration. I have been recently in awe of Lena Stain‘s cyberpunk projects and decided to have a go at something similar myself, although nowhere near as detailed as Lena’s work.
I used layers of Tattered Angels paints and metal embellishments from Xanderous Crafty Stash. It was a little bit messy but I love how a plain piece of mdf turned into this rusty, industrial-inspired frame.
You can see the process here:
And here are some more close-ups for you!
I have used Stencil girl Trio Of Thorns stencil and Colourcraft Aztec Eco Metallic paints. The apron is from Canvas Corp.
I haven’t made any tags for a while and when I saw ‘Alice In Wonderland’ (I looooove ‘Alice in Wonderland’!!!) acetate sheets in scrapbooking.gr, I knew straight away that I’d use them for a set of acetate tags.
I decided to follow the ‘cards’ colour theme and stick to black, white and red.
I find acetate great to work with mainly due to the fact that you can see all the layers under it. It also gives off the feel of being delicate while it is not.
Here’s the tutorial for you:
