To make this page, I used Canvas Corp Printed Cardboard – I love the texture and versatility of it. And it doesn’t warp with wet media! Total win, if you ask me.
May at Wyzwania Nie-Kartkowe brings a luggage themed challenge – it should be the main focus of the project.
I used numerous 7gypsies Architextures elements: 6×6 artboard, Tall Base – Chicken Wire, Junque Pack – Cabin and cut-outs from Architextures 8×8 paper pad. All that sprinkled with some Tattered Angels mists and… voila!
The 7gypsies Architextures are finally available to purchase almost all over the world and being a member of the CCB Creative Crew means that I got to play with the goodies before most.
As amazing as each of the pieces is separately, the elements work together as a system where you don’t really need much else to be able to create a variety of textures and dimensions of mixed media without the mixed media… my sceptical mind would not have that but I decided to give it a go…
Following the original idea, I put away my usual stencils and texture mediums; I grabbed an old book and focused on using only Architextures and some Tattered Angels paints… Oh, how fun!!! I am pretty good with words but… I am so glad that I made a VIDEO TUTORIAL to document it!
It was a completely new experience for me where using layers and variety of Architextures elements I achieved the result I could only achieve with wet media before – the rub-ones are glorious and the bases are my new favourite 7gypsies product! My verdict – you have to try them!!!
Being part of a DT is so much fun – you get to work with some amazing artists and share your work with a big audience. There are some downsides too…and it seems like I experienced them this month only to come up a winner at the end of it.
Stamping… I do use stamps in my projects but to add to the background. Stamps have never been the main feature of my work. They are important, don’t get me wrong, but they’re always in the background, never in the spotlight. You can imagine the size of my sigh when I saw Crafty Life’s February challenge theme… yeah, you guessed it – STAMPS. I left the project to the very last thinking that the deadline will motivate me and, most importantly, inspire me…oh, man…what a struggle that was! I tried stamping cards – nope! I tried stamping canvas – nope! I even attempted making art journal with stamps as the main focus – not a chance! So I thought of making something that I can entirely cover in stamps and be able to get away with it… ATC! And it worked!!!
oh, one more thing! Can you see those little, coin-like elements? They are the new Architextures by 7gypsies. So cool!!! More to come!
